About The Osler Institute

The Osler Institute is a nonprofit continuing medical education organization accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). For more than four decades, we have helped physicians prepare for board certification and stay current in their specialties through comprehensive, high-quality review courses.

Founded in 1982 in Indiana, the Institute began with a single Pathology Board Review Course. Within three years, that program attracted nearly half of all candidates preparing for the American Board of Pathology exam. Building on that success, the Osler Institute expanded to additional specialties and today offers more than 50 board review and continuing education courses each year across approximately 20 medical specialties.

Our mission is inspired by Sir William Osler, widely regarded as a pioneer of modern medical education and a champion of lifelong learning. His belief that physicians should continually refine their knowledge and clinical skills remains central to everything we do.

Over the years, more than 100,000 physicians have participated in Osler programs, earning over one million hours of continuing medical education. Our courses are designed to deliver practical, evidence-based knowledge that physicians can apply directly in clinical practice while preparing for certification and recertification exams.

In 2020, the Osler Institute expanded its educational offerings to include virtual and hybrid learning experiences, ensuring physicians can access expert instruction and board preparation wherever they are. Today, our programs combine trusted faculty expertise with flexible learning formats to support physicians at every stage of their professional journey.
