Description

The Osler Institute recorded our live virtual webinar, the Comprehensive Surgical Critical Care Review Course, in September 2026 and brings it to you.  These files are stored “in the cloud,” so you can stream them anywhere, anytime, as long as you have an internet connection.  You can watch or listen to them on your phone or computer.  Each online review includes a downloadable lecture syllabus, available for use while viewing or as a standalone study or clinical practice guide.

This comprehensive review will update your clinical knowledge base and help you pass your Surgical Critical Care Certifying Exam (CE) and Continuous Certification (CC) exam.  It emphasizes evidence-based medicine and board-relevant standards of care, incorporating current best-practice concepts, surgical approaches, preoperative evaluation, and clinical follow-up strategies.  As a result, it provides a comprehensive review for your American Board of Surgery (ABS) subspecialty exam and a thorough review of Surgical Critical Care for physicians.  Many of our previous learners found that the course improved their diagnostic and management strategies and deepened their understanding of the best surgical approaches for the principal areas covered by Critical Care Surgeons.  In addition, they helped them recognize areas of weakness for self-study.  You will also gain valuable insights and practical tips to apply immediately to your practice.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, each participant will be able to:

  •  Summarize the principles of comprehensive care for the critically ill patient – both surgical and non-surgical
  • Describe preoperative, operative, and postoperative management of patients with multi-system illnesses, including the cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrinologic, renal, hepato-biliary, and hematologic systems.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of traumatic injuries for all major organ systems.
  • Discuss life-threatening pediatric conditions and the unique issues involved in the management of critically ill pediatric patients.s
  • Discuss the leadership skills necessary to direct multi-disciplinary coordinated care of the critically ill patient

Guarantee

The Osler “Until You Pass” Guarantee

The Osler Institute is committed to providing high-quality education to our learners. We offer courses that are guaranteed to help them confidently pass their examinations. In the unlikely event that a learner does not pass their examination, we allow them to re-enroll in a course tuition-free* until they succeed. Suppose you have attended an Osler course or subscribed to an online review and failed the examination for which the course was designed within the following nine months. In that case, you can re-enroll in an Osler course or resubscribe to the same term online review until you pass. This offer is tuition-free, but a corresponding failed examination attempt must precede each free course.
Please be aware that the course registration fee does not cover hotel costs, meeting amenities, or any additional mock orals or study materials. If you want to enroll in a course under the guarantee, please make sure that you complete the enrollment process more than 30 days before the course start date. By doing so, you can avoid any late fees that may apply if you enroll after this time frame.

*Some restrictions apply: The course must be equal to or lesser value than the previous course. You may upgrade to a different course at a discounted rate. If the same course isn’t available, we offer a three-month subscription-based course in its place. Additional mock orals or a la carte course options are excluded from our guarantee option.
