Hone your critical reasoning and evaluation skills in an intensive 3-day case review course designed to help you zero in on what is most clinically relevant for diagnosis, developing a management plan, and treatment approach. Emphasis is placed on the clinical management of malignant and benign disease by requiring knowledge of anatomy; epidemiology; pathology; patterns of local, regional and distal involvement; treatment modalities; radiation treatment planning; and results of treatment including prognosis and complications.
The course begins with a lecture on critical reasoning skills and communication skills that will be emphasized during the exams to follow. The remainder of the course consists of a series of board-relevant case reviews presented as half-hour public mock oral exams followed by faculty feedback. Participants and faculty review one-on-one in a 25-minute simulation of the oral board process followed by faculty critique; 7-10 cases are reviewed in each 30-minute session for a total of 140-200 case reviews per day. Course fees include participating in two complimentary public mock oral exams and observing other participants being examined – learn from doing and from observing. Participants are matched with faculty based on their topic selections. Participants may purchase additional mock orals if desired (public or private); however, availability may be limited within two weeks of the start of the course. Please contact the Osler office prior to that time to ensure availability. Enter Mock Oral topic preference(s) in the indicated box that appears during the registration process.
